A blank comparison cell can mean that information is unavailable, not that the measured quantity is zero. Before drafting a conclusion from a table, record what each cell represents and why it is empty. This is a proposed evidence-checking method, not a substitute for discipline-specific analysis.

A wholly fictional comparison

An invented assignment compares the booking conditions described for Service A and Service B. The exercise document for A states a cancellation deadline. The available document for B says nothing about cancellation. A student enters “no cancellation deadline” for B and concludes that B is more flexible. Neither statement follows from the missing information. These services and documents are teaching inventions, not research results.

A completed cell record

Row: cancellation deadline. A cell: deadline stated in the exercise document, with its actual wording retained. B cell: not reported in the available document. Reason for the gap: that document does not address cancellation. Next action: seek the relevant terms if the assignment requires a comparison, or explicitly limit the comparison. Do not enter zero, “none” or a guessed deadline.

Rewrite the comparison

A suitable limited statement is: “The available material describes a cancellation deadline for A but does not report B’s cancellation conditions. It therefore does not establish which service offers greater cancellation flexibility.” In a real assignment, identify the documents actually read and provide verified citations in the required style. The exercise does not supply fictional authors, dates or identifiers to imitate real evidence.

Different labels need different meanings

“Not reported” describes the available source. “Not applicable” means the comparison criterion does not apply, which itself needs justification. “Zero” is a value supported by evidence. “Not checked” describes your unfinished work. Define the labels you use and do not treat them as interchangeable merely to make a table look complete.

What a follow-up can establish

If a relevant document is found, confirm its scope and date before updating the cell. A rule for a different service tier or period may not settle this comparison. Record what changed and revise any affected conclusion. If the gap remains, retain it openly rather than averaging invented values or announcing that no restriction exists.

The final decision log

A’s reported condition retained; B marked not reported; the flexibility ranking removed; the follow-up recorded as pending. The revised table communicates the limits of the evidence rather than hiding them. Do not upload another person’s private records to complete a comparison without appropriate permission.
