Receiving feedback is not the same as addressing it. A revision record connects each comment with a decision in the text. Use it to explain your work and find unresolved issues, while following the feedback and assistance rules for your assignment. The example below is an original fictional exercise, not a real assessment or a required university form.

A fictional paragraph and comment

A draft in the exercise says: “The reading room was open in the evening, so the service met every student’s needs.” The practice notice only states the opening period. A fictional tutor comments: “Separate the opening hours from the claim about students’ needs.” Neither the notice nor the comment reports a survey of students. Do not invent one to keep the original conclusion.

Entry one: accept and make the edit

Comment: the conclusion goes beyond the evidence. Decision: accept. Actual revision: “The practice notice lists evening opening hours. This establishes when the room was available, but does not show whether the hours suited students with different schedules.” Location: the paragraph containing the opening-hours claim. Reason: the revision preserves the supported information and identifies the missing evidence. In real work, keep the verified citation beside the source-based statement in the required style.

Entry two: defer a suggestion with a reason

A second fictional comment asks whether booking arrangements might matter. The student has not consulted a booking policy. Decision: investigate, rather than add a claim that booking was compulsory. Current action: retain the limited opening-hours statement and mark booking arrangements as unresolved in the working notes. If the final argument requires that information, consult an appropriate source or narrow the argument. A pending note must not become a fabricated fact in the submitted paper.

Entry three: check what the final paragraph actually says

The student compares the saved revision with the record. The universal claim has been removed, the available evidence is identified, and the uncertainty is explicit. The completion note reads: “Comment on evidence scope addressed; booking question remains unverified; no booking claim included.” This says what changed. It does not say the tutor approved the final draft or that a particular grade will follow.

A record you can reuse

For each comment, record the exact issue, your decision, the changed passage or its location, the reason and any remaining question. If you decline a suggestion, explain the evidence or task requirement behind the decision respectfully; do not mark it as implemented. A citation added to an unchanged unsupported sentence is not necessarily a completed substantive revision.

Before sharing the record

Keep only the feedback and excerpts needed for the authorized review. Do not publish a tutor’s private comments or another student’s work. If assistance must be declared, describe it accurately under the applicable rules.
